Al Ain, in the Eastern Region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, is the fourth largest city in the UAE, after Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, and is known as the ‘Garden City of the Gulf’. It boasts its own racecourse, a right handed oval sand track of 12 furlongs with a separate sprint course. It first opened its gates for racing in 2014, holds races from November to March, and its principal race is the Al Ain Marathon series. This event is an interesting series of ever increasing handicap races. The second leg is over 3200 metres, the third over 4100 metres and the fifth and final leg is over 5100 metres.
